Anonymous: You are beautiful, and I love you. I have a question. It is a stupid question but a question none the less. Do you ever have problems with people telling you you're culturally appropriating with dreadlocks? I want to take the plunge, but I have horrible anxiety and even if one person attacked me I feel like I'd brush them out right then. I just want to be natural, I don't want to brush my hair anymore... I want to be free... I've done research but found no definite answers.

i love you too. you are beautiful, i don’t have to see you to know this. it’s not a stupid question, people always do have a lot of things to say. take the plunge babe, if you don’t you might always regret it. just say true to yourself and defend your decision to the end and don’t let anyone make you feel bad ever. i know it’s going to be hard to control your anxiety so just be aware that when you first dread there is going to be a period of time where you might feel a little bit uncomfortable as you get used to it and that’s when you’ll get the most negativity unfortunately. just remember that it’s going to pass and it’s worth it.
